Dugong

The Japanese and U.S. governments are plowing ahead with construction of a new air base in Japan's Henoko Bay, threatening to destroy the last refuge of the critically endangered Okinawa dugong.

And it's not just dugongs that are in harm's way: Okinawa's coral reefs support a whole world of fascinating, extremely rare creatures.

Urge Trump and Japan's prime minister to halt this project.

The Court Fight Is On to Save Our Monuments

Read about our lawsuit to save Utah's Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, which came hours after Trump slashed the area in half (while also cutting the size of Bears Ears National Monument by 85 percent, which we challenged in court just days later). Also in this issue: "7 Songs for the Anthopocene," Trump's Goliath oil-lease sale in the Arctic, saving monarchs and dugongs, and more. Don't miss our "Wild & Weird" video on beautiful red foxes (which, as you'll see, aren't always red).
