National Wolf Expert to Appear in Portland, Salem This Week

Events Highlight History, Politics, Latest Developments in
Wolf Recovery in Oregon and Across West

The historic return of wolves to southern Oregon and California will be highlighted during special presentations this week in Portland and Salem featuring biologist Amaroq Weiss, one of the country’s leading wolf-conservation advocates, who works as West Coast wolf organizer at the Center for Biological Diversity.

Tuesday, July 15: Wolf Film and Q&A in Salem
What: Premiere of “OR-7 – The Journey,” a documentary on Oregon’s most famous wolf, followed by a Q&A with the film’s director, Clemens Schenk, and wolf expert Amaroq Weiss.
When: Film starts at 7:45 p.m., Q&A afterwards.
Where: Salem Cinema, 1127 Broadway NE, Salem, OR 97301.

Wednesday, July 16: Portland Wolf Talk
What: Amaroq Weiss, who has been at the forefront of wolf-recovery efforts in the United States for the past 17 years, will give a special free presentation about the return of wolves to the West Coast. Her talk will cover a wide range of issues, from the politics of wolf recovery to the current status of wolves in Washington, Oregon and California, as well as what’s happening at the federal level.
When: 7 p.m.
Where: Lucky Labrador Brewing Company, 1945 NW Quimby St., Portland, OR 97209. The public and media are welcome to attend.
Visuals and Interviews: Amaroq Weiss will give a live presentation that incorporates video clips and Powerpoint. Weiss is available for interviews Wednesday during the day and in the evening following her presentation, or in advance.
